Eric Carle Inspired Art

This week we began reading books by Eric Carle as well as other stories illustrated by Eric Carle. The children noticed his unique art technique of using painted tissue paper to create collage images. Many asked if they could learn more about his artwork.

Throughout the year, the children have experimented with many types of collages. They made texture collages, heart paper collages and colour collages. Today they used painted paper and cut out shapes to make brightly coloured animals and/or insects. We also viewed some short clips about the illustrator Eric Carle. He explained his techniques and how he always reflects and tries to improve his artwork. The children eagerly dove into today’s art focused lesson and made some beautiful creations.
